About Me

My name is Andrew Cha, and I am currently studying Industrial Design at Purdue University.
At Purdue, I am developing my skills to become a professional industrial designer, focusing on areas such as user research, design ideation sketches, and prototyping.
Leveraging these skills, I worked as the project director for the main toy line of the animated series Hunted House Season 4 at XOSOFT, successfully launching eight products in the market.
After this professional experience, I chose to fulfill my mandatory military service in the Republic of Korea Army, serving as a communication operator in an artillery battalion and later being discharged as a sergeant. Although I was eligible for an exemption due to my citizenship, I made the personal decision to serve without exception.
During my service, I had the profound experience of participating in the recovery of the remains of fallen soldiers from the Korean War, including soldiers from the U.S. Army.
Through diverse experiences in design, leadership, and military service, I have learned to approach problems from multiple perspectives. I strive to find thoughtful, human-centered solutions — not only as a designer, but as someone deeply committed to making a meaningful impact.
What is Design to Me?

Design is not only making aesthetically appealing products but is also a powerful tool that influences and changes the quality of life. It could change like an iPhone, but it also changes the people right next to us. Since Industrial Designers find problems to fix problems, even though it is tiring and challenging work, I could overcome and enjoy those pains. I might not be designing the number one; I create the only design I can.
